Jean-Michel Quinodoz’ book sprung out of the experience of reading Freud in a “closed group” setting. Not only has this experience been shared by analysts for more then a century, it is still considered one of the pillars of the psychoanalytic training program. In what, then, are psychoanalysts in our time indulging themselves and subjecting their students to during the many hours they spend reading Freud over the course of their professional lives?
