Asserting one’s agency and subjectivity is never easy. It is all the more difficult to accomplish for those who resort to omnipotence in order to compensate for political weakness and fragile identity. “Let me die with the Philistines!” cried Samson as he bent with all his might so that the house fell on the lords and all the people who were in it (Judges 16: 28-30). For millions of people on this planet subjectivity and agency are not only denied politically. They can only be accomplished at the expanse of their life, and by taking the lives of those who were fortunate enough to posses it.
